Mission Statement

Boreal Theater aspires to bring cultural enrichment and engagement to our local community through the performing and visual arts.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to deepen the presence of the creative arts as an essential part of community life in Millinocket and the surrounding region.

Values

  • This theater exists as a space for all; residents and visitors alike. As our theater grows, we look to partners and will engage our audiences, artists, government leaders, cultural groups, local businesses, educators, students, and families as partners in the creative experience.

  • Collaboration: As our work is the culminating effort of all stakeholders, we actively seek input and contributions that best represent our community’s values. We celebrate wide and diverse points of view, and seek out different ideas, perspectives, and voices in all aspects of innovation, drawing from our shared love of the arts.

  • Creativity: Creativity is the bedrock of all we do, and the Boreal Theater will be a platform for artists to evolve and explore. We strive to produce work that inspires, challenges, and enlightens audiences through a variety of media.
  • A Commitment to diversity

Our productions and activities seek to represent and celebrate the wide range of artistic talent including BIPOC, LGBTQI+, neurodiverse, body diverse, disabled artists and those representing a variety of religions, beliefs and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, we look to empower individuals through their direct participation and contribution to Boreal Theater leadership and administration.

    Land acknowledgement

The Boreal Theater acknowledges that the Penobscot people are the original people of this beautiful land and that they continue to be a vibrant Nation. We acknowledge and thank the Indigenous people whose footsteps have marked this territory on which peoples of the world now gather to enjoy the area’s natural beauty and artistic enterprises.
